This illuminated unicorn bust imagines a celestial steed stepping out of a starlit carousel. Sculpted entirely by hand from soft natural wool, the Mythic Starlight Unicorn is designed as a regal profile mounted on a sleek metallic base, glowing like a small constellation when the lights come on. The head and neck are densely needle felted in warm ivory and cream tones, with subtle shading around the muzzle, nostrils, and ears for lifelike presence. A tall cotton-spun illuminated spiral horn rises from the forehead, wrapped in shimmering fibers and highlighted with tiny iridescent accents that catch the light even when the LEDs are off. Along the crest of the mane, rounded felted nodes form a dramatic crown-like ridge. Integrated LED light elements are embedded within these forms and along the horn, creating a radiant halo of golden light when illuminated. The unicorn’s eye is built around a handcrafted glass element and framed with layers of needle-felted color in turquoise, blue, and chartreuse, then finished with hand-set crystals. The citrus-bright bridle is encrusted with rhinestones in sunset hues, completed with a gold ring and tassel. Each LED component is embedded using the artist’s patent-pending illuminated felted technique, in which light elements and wiring are mechanically retained inside the dense fiber matrix. This preserves softness while keeping electronics securely hidden. Mounted on a coordinating metallic stand, this one-of-a-kind fiber sculpture displays beautifully—equally striking with lights on or off.
